Snow Slows CODA Conference
Six feet of snow hampered attendance at the third annual
California Operator & Door Association (CODA) Regional
Conference in Oct. 20-23, 2004, in Reno, Nev.
Only 51 companies exhibited at the 2004 Reno event, and 157
dealer personnel attended with 94 pre-paid “no-shows,”
according to Ty Kehlenbeck, CODA president. By comparison,
the 2003 conference in Laughlin, Nev., featured 75 booths
and attracted 500 to 600 attendees.
He says two early Pacific storms dropped as much as six feet
of snow in the Donner Summit Pass, just 35 miles west of Reno.
Reportedly, chains-only were required for travel, and authorities
occasionally turned back travelers.
But those who made it to Reno “had a great experience,”
says Kehlenbeck. “The golf outing went off without a
hitch – for those who braved the cold.”
CODA is now planning the 2005 show. Kehlenbeck says they
are in final negotiations with either a Southern California
or a Las Vegas location. Final plans will be announced on
www.codaonline.org.
