How to Repair Fire Doors

Since rolling steel fire doors must meet specific safety requirements, repairing such a door must be done according to specific procedures. As a helpful service to installers and service technicians, DASMA’s Rolling Door Technical Committee has jointly prepared Technical Data Sheet (TDS) 257 to specify and promote the procedures for repairing UL-classified or FM-approved rolling steel fire doors.

Did you know:
• All repairs to rolling steel fire doors must be made with components (slats, bottom bars, etc.) from the original door manufacturer?
• All rolling fire doors that are repaired must be drop tested?
• When a guide is repaired, the complete guide assembly must be replaced?
• The UL/FM label on the damaged bottom bar must be returned to the original manufacturer?

TDS 257 is an easy-to-read one-page document and is available from DASMA. To obtain a free copy of TDS 257, contact DASMA at 216-241-7333, fax 216-241-0105, or dasma@dasma.com.
